What is Stenner Glen?

Stenner Glen is the only academic dorm in San Luis Obispo that offers room and board – similar to a Bed and Breakfast – to both Cal Poly and Cuesta College students.

What does it cost to live at Stenner Glen?

The total cost per academic year depends upon the size of the room and the number
of meals chosen per week. The current price is on our webpage at http://stennerglen.com/pricelist.php.

What does academic year mean?

Cal Poly is on the quarter system and Cuesta College is on the semester system. Stenner Glen’s lease covers 3 quarters at Cal Poly and 2 semesters at Cuesta College- approximately 9 months. We are closed during the summer.

Do I have to move my furniture and personal items out during the summer?

No. If you are returning to Stenner Glen the following year you can leave your personal possessions in your room at no additional charge during the summer.

What utilities are included in the rent?

Internet, Direct TV, electricity, water and trash are included as well as housekeeping.  Housekeepers will clean your bathroom and living room once a week.

What type of security is provided?

Stenner Glen employs full-time uniformed security guards from 9pm to 5am every
evening as well as a student -employee Resident Advisor in each of the 13 student
dormitories.

Can I bring my car?

Yes, we have a lighted parking lot for cars and motorcycles. The parking permit
fee is $300 for cars and $150 for motorcycles. Bicycle racks are available thought-out Stenner Glen for your bikes.

How do I get my packages from home?

The Business Office will sign for and accept all your packages.  A notice is posted on our webpage at http://www.stennerglenstudents.com/packages.php informing you your package has arrived.

Is there a GPA – Grade Point Average – requirement to live at Stenner Glen?

Yes. Our minimum requirement for a freshman depends upon room availability and
varies each year from a 3.00 to a 2.5.

What does Stenner Glen do to help me get good grades?

Stenner Glen has a study hall with tutors from 8:30 pm to 11:00 pm. Sunday though
Thursday. The tutors are included in the rent.

Can I bring my own furniture?

Yes. Stenner Glen provides an extra- long bed, chest of drawers and a desk in each room that we will remove if you want to bring your own furniture.

Can I change my meal plan if my class schedule changes?

Yes - during the first 10 days of your new quarter or semester notify the office of
your request to change. There is a $38 administrative charge to amend your lease agreement. Your Guarantor must approve of the change in your lease agreement.

Where can I find the move-in date?

The Stenner Glen web page has a link (in the upper right hand corner) to the Stenner Glen Students webpage http://www.stennerglenstudents.com/ that has an academic calendar for both Cal Poly and Cuesta College.

Where do I do my laundry?

There is a laundry room next to the Security Office by the pool. The machines use
a money card – no quarters. You load the card in the Business Office. $1.50 to wash and $.50 to dry.

When is the dining room open?

The dining room is open from 7am to 7pm Monday through Friday and 10am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Can I take a lunch to go?

Sack lunches are available until 10:30am on school days.  A sack lunch is a meal marked off your meal card.
